In this 1st game of a double header Evan Chang was in complete control of the game through 5 innings. Summit was on top 6-2 and both of Dover's runs were unearned. What's more Chang had allowed only 3 hits. Starting the 6th inning Chang was replaced on the mound, apparently to save him for a possible Union County game against Westfield on Saturday. Unfortunately, the strategy backfired. Tim Cotter replaced Chang, but struggled on the mound. It must be said that Cotter didn't get a lot of defensive support. In his brief stay on the mound the infield committed 3 errors. Ben Roessle replaced Cotter and Finnished the inning, but not before 4 unearned runs had crossed the plate. Dover had tied the game at 6-6, with all their runs being unearned.

Summit failed to score in the top of the 7th. Dover made two outs to start the bottom of the 7th before a single extended the inning. Roessle got the next batter to hit a routine ground ball for the apparent 3rd out, but the ball was thrown wide to 1st base, Summit's 7th error of the game. Instead of going to extra innings Roessle had to face an additional batter. Sadly that batter singled to score Dover 7th, and winning, unearned run.
