Evan Chang got off to a shaky start when Mendham's first two batters tagged him for a double and a triple. The next batter was safe on an error, two runs were in and no one was out. In spite of the downpour of rain Chang got the next batter to fly out and a neat double play ended the inning. Over the final 4 innings Chang limited Mendham to a single hit and zero runs. A fine outing, under very adverse weather conditions.

Summit got a run in the 2nd when Tim Spangler got on via an error, Nick Orestanio singled and Spangler scored on Ben Roessle's ground ball. Summit took the lead in the 3rd with 3 runs on singles by Chang, Tim Cotter and Oristanio and walks Spangler, Roessle and Tim Kane. The bottom dropped out for Mendham in the 4th inning when Summit scored 10 run on only 4 hits. The Mendham pitching staff collapsed and gave up 8 walks and 1 hit batter. The four hits were singles by Eddie Hagan, Orestanio, Cotter and Kenny Miller.

Summit added 2 insurance runs in the 5th on single by Roessle, walks to Kane and Rea and a double by Cotter. The game ended via the Mercy Rule and the thoroughly soaked Summit fans were happy to get out of the 45 degree rain and head home with a victory.
