The story of this game is written in the overall game statistics. Summit made 7 errors (plus a couple of misjudged fly balls) and left 12 men stranded. Mendham made zero errors and left 6 men on base.

Mendham scored 3 runs in the first inning, but Summit bounced back with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st. Three walks , a single by Evan Chang and a sacrifice fly by Tim Cotter resulted in the 2 runs. In the bottom of the 2nd Summit scored three times. Tim Kane drew a walk, Eddie Hagan walked, Chang singled to drive in Kane and Tim Spangler tripled to score Hagan and Chang. Summit entered the 3rd inning ahead 5-3. However, that was the last good news there would be for Summit.

In the top of the third Mendham got the first seven batters on base with 4 singles, 1 walk and 2 errors. At this point the umpire had words with Starter Kenny Miller and the Umpire felt Miller had inappropriate words back. The result was that Miller was ejected from the game and Tom Casey took over. Casey pitched well over the next 4 2/3 innings. giving up only 3 hits, but got little defensive support from the infield.
