Doubles: Cotter(1),Miller(1)
Hit batters: Kane(1), Miller(1) |
Summit met Parsippany for the first game ever played at night on the new artificial turf field and things got off to a promising start. Matt Rea started the bottom of the first by beating out a infield single and scored on a Tim Cotter double. The good feelings were short lived Parsippany ripped four hits in the 2nd inning that led to 3 runs. Parsippany added another run in the 3rd. The 5th inning added two more for Parsippany when the leadoff batter was safe on an error and was followed by a home run. At this point Eddie Hagan came on in relief and pitched the final three innings allowing only 1 run on 1 hit and a sacrifice fly.
The bottom of the 7th inning began with Summit down 7-1. After one out, Tim Kane was hit by the pitcher. Matt Rea drew a walk. Evan Chang singled in Kane. Another single by Cotter loaded the bases. Eric Forsell rapped a sharp single to drive in Rea and Chang. Suddenly it was 7-4 and the tying run was at the plate. Unfortunately, the rally ended there.
