Summit got a fine complete game pitching performance from Ben Roessle. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits in each of the first two innings, but then proceeded to allow only one more hit over the final 5 innings. Summit started slowly and went down 1-2-3 in each of the first 3 innings. As a result Summit entered the top of the 4th down 2-0 and looking pretty anemic. Kenny Milller got things started with a single and took 2nd on a passed ball. Eddie Hagan singled to drive in Miller and took 2nd when the Parsippany right fielder let the ball get past him. Evan Chang walked. Following two fly outs Rosessle singled to score Hagan and Matt Rea singled to being in Chang. The bats had come alive and Summit was ahead 3-2.

The 5th inning held some good news and some bad. Tim Kane was walked and stole 2nd to start things off. After a fly out Hagan again singled and Kane scored. Chang singled to drive in Hagan to make the score 5-2. Spangler rapped a hard single and as Chang rounded 2nd on his way to 3rd he came up lame, fell to the ground and was tagged out. After being examined by the Parsippany trainer, Chang had to be helped back to the dugout. That took the air out of the rally and the inning ended with Summit ahead 5-2.

As the game entered the 6th inning Roessle's pitch count stood at 88. The Parsippany leadoff batter hit a clean single. The next batter hit a single to right and the fans groaned, But Miller scooped up the ball and threw to 2nd in time force the runner. Thereby turning a good single into fielder's choice out. Its not everyday you see that play. However, Roessle's pitch count was now 102. In the final inning Roessle started off by hitting the first batter. A fielder's choice erased the the runner going to 2nd. The next batter hit into a possible double play, but the throw went over Summit second baseman into the outfield and every one was safe. That brought the possible tieing run to the plate. On an 0-2 count the batter lofted a deep fly ball to left. It curved foul but Tom Casey raced deep into foul territory and made a great catch for the 2nd out. Roessle got the final out on a 4-3 ground ball. Roessle ended throwing 124 pitches in a well deserved victory.
