Summit's season came to an end at the hands of Somerville in the 1st round game of the State Tournament. Somerville got the bulk of their runs in the 3rd inning when two blown calls by the Umps turned a 2 run inning into a 5 run inning. Of course, considering the offensive production from Summit, two runs or five runs, it didn't make any difference. For 20 outs the Somerville pitcher gave up zero hits and Summit left no one on base. The no hitter was ruined by Tim Spangler's double to center field. As it was the Somerville center fielder almost saved the no hitter. He raced almost to the fence and got the tip of his glove on the ball, but it wasn't enough

Eddie Hagan drew the starting assignment and pitched through most of the calamitous 3rd inning. He was relieved by Kenny Miller who pitched the final 2 1/3 innings. It was fitting that they would share the final game since they proved be the two top pitchers throughout the season.

Summit final record is 9-14-1
