This was a huge victory for Summit's revitalized football program. In the regular season game Hanover Park prevailed 40-28 and their ace Pete Nagy rushed for 186 yards and 5 TDs. In last nights game Nagy still carried for 167 yards but this time the Summit Defense came up with big stops at the right time. Summit's defense forced fumble turnovers on Hanover Park's first two possessions. On the second turnover Summit got the ball on the Hanover park 41. Five plays later Matt Rea scored on a 2 yd plunge. The big play was a 40 yard pass to Rea. On the next Hanover Park possession Summit's defense forced a punt. The snap went over the punter's head and into the endzone. The punter kicked the ball out of the back of the endzone to prevent a Summit recovery. The safety suddenly gave Summit a 9-0 lead.

Hanover park was forced to kickoff from their 20 yard line. Rea took the kickoff and returned it to the Hanover Park 40 yardline. Two carries by Dwayne Dabney resulted in a 1st down at the 21. Another run moved the ball to the 5. Three plays later the ball was on the 1 and 4th down. Jaskolski dropped back to pass and was under heavy pressure. He managed to scramble long enough for Kevin McNany to get open for the TD. Following the Melendez extra point, Summit was on top 16-0. Hanover Park was not about to back down. They took the ensuing kick off and drove 57 yards in 10 plays, almost exclusively with the running of Nagy. HP went for a 2 point extra point and were stopped short of the goal line. So the half ended 16-6.

Hanover Park received the 2nd half kick off and moved relentlessly down the field behind Nagy's running. Eight plays gave HP a 1st down at Summit's 26 . Nagy took the ball to 21 but was stopped from no gain on the next play. Surprisingly, HP tried a pass that was incomplete. Now it was 4th down and 5 at the 21. HP hit Nagy with a pass and he was stopped around the 16 yard line. The chains had to be brought out to measure and HP was inches short and Summit took over on downs deep in their own territory. Two plays and penalty made it 3rd and 14 from the 13 yard line.. It looked like HP was going to get the ball back in great field position. However, Jaskolski connected with Andre Torres on a 51 yard pass play to give summit new life at the HP 36. Summit eventually turned the ball back to HP on their 26 .

As it turned out HP would never threaten again. Summit was able to eat up large blocks of time and the defense came up strong to stifle the Hanover park offense.
