In what had to be the worst possible weather for a football game, Summit spent the day trying to fight it's way back into the game and overcome some big plays by Morris Hills. Summit took the opening kickoff and rather easily, behind the running of Dwaine Dabney and a nice reception by Tim Kane, moved the ball to a 1st down at the Morris Hills 18 yard line. However, the drive stalled and Morris Hills took over on their 24. Following a Summit penalty, Morris Hill's ace Colin Be' ripped off a 71 yard run for a touch down. The next two Summit possessions went nowhere but a fine 44 yard punt by Andre Torres pinned Morris Hills back on their 10 yard line.

The Summit defense held and and got the ball back at the MH 45. The offense sputtered, but a roughing the kicker penalty Game Summit a new life at the MH 38, Three carries by Dabney moved the ball to the MH 3. Again the offense stalled but on 4th down Joe Jaskolski rolled out and took the ball in from the 6 yard line. Alex Melendez kicked the extra point and Summit was back in the ballgame. Sadly, Morris Hills took the kickoff and moved to score in 5 plays to take a 14-7 halftime lead.

Just as the first half started with a big run by Morris Hill's Be' the first play of the 2nd half was almost a repeat when Be' stunned Summit with a 62 yard run to the Summit 6. Two plays later Summit was down 21-7 and seemingly behind the eight-ball. On the next MH possession Torres blocked a punt and Matt Rea carried the ball to the MH 4 yardline. A illegal substitution penalty moved the ball back to the 9 and the possession ended 4 yards short. MH was forced to punt and it went off the side of the punter's foot giving Summit another chance at the MH 18 yardline. This time a pass to Rea picked up 8 yards and a 10 yard run by Dabney game Summit a TD. The kick went wide but Summit was only down 21-13. The excitement was short lived when Morris Hills took the kickoff at their 10 and returned it 90 yards for a TD. So, as the game entered the 4th quarter Summit found itself down 28-13.

In spite of having been outplayed in the first half Summit's line began to assert itself in the 4th quarter. MH would not make a 1st down in the final quarter. After a Summit fumble and a MH punt, Summit took over on their 10. Summit drove 90 yards in 13 plays, 7 carries and an 18 pass reception by Dabney accounted for most of the yardage. Melendez kicked the extra point and the score was 28-20. The Summit defense held again and Morris Hills went three and out. Summit got the ball back on its 27. Jaskolski carried to the 39, Dabney took it to the 47 and Rea ripped off the final 53 yards to score. Suddenly, it was a two point game. Jaskolski found Shawn Hillas deep in the end zone and Hillas made a great leaping catch to send the game to overtime.

Summit lost the overtime coin toss and had to go first from the 25 yardline. Dabney moved the ball to the 3 on the first play, and to the 1 on the next play. The Jaskolski again found Hillas in the endzone for the TD. Melendez kicked the PAT to put Summit ahead for the first time. Then came Morris Hills' turn. On their first play the MH's QB went wide and scored. Morris Hills decided to roll the dice and go for two points. This was it, win or lose on one play. Summit had good coverage but MH managed to connect on a low pass and it was all over 36-35.
