Parsippany 0 0 0 6 0

Parsipppany took the opening kickoff and was forced to punt from their 44. Matt Rea blocked the punt and it was picked up by Pat Birosak and carried to the Parsippany 6 yard line. A great scoring opportunity was lost when Summit turned the ball back to Parsippany on a fumble on the 2nd play. Was this going to be one of those days? The defense held and Summit got possession on the Parsippany 48 yard line. Two plays later, a 22 yard pass to Tim Kane and and a 26 yard run by Dwayne Dabney, Summit scored to relieve some of the angst among the fans. However, it returned after the next series. A 17 yard pass to Kane and a 19 yard run by Rea gave Summit a 1st down on the Parsippany 10, but two plays later Summit again turned it over on a fumble. Parsippany returned the favor after a couple of good runs took them to their 41 yard line. On 3rd and 7 for Summit, from the Parsippany 37, an errant snap was fortunately recovered but not before a 20 yard loss. Mercifully the quarter ended.

The game really turned around in the 2nd quarter. On the 1st possession of the quarter Summit scored after a 18 yard run by Dabney, a 26 yard pass to Dabney and a 3 yd sprint into the end zone by Rea. From there on Summit was on a roll. Dabney ended the game with 165 yard rushing and 50 yards receiving for 201 yards of total offense. Summit scored two more times in the 2nd quarter to go to the locker with a 27-0 lead. The last two TDs came on a 27 yard run by Dabney and a 20 yard pass to Thomas Baker.

Summit opened up the 2nd half with a 66 yard, 5 play, drive. It was capped by 25 yd run into the end zone by Rea. Alex Melendez kicked his 4th extra point to make the score 34-0. At this point Coach Liberato went heavily to his bench and gave good playing time to the reserves. Parsippany went almost completely to a passing game and was able to score their lone touchdown.
