Summit 3 Parsippany Hills he Summit JVs won their first game, turning back Parsippany Hills 13-6 at Parsippany Hills on Monday.
The big plays in the game were a 70-yard touchdown pass from Pat Huck to Marcel Godino. Alex Melendez kicked the extra point. Later in the first half Pat Huck scored on a 50-yard run. A key play in the 72-yard drive was a 15-yard pass from Huck to Tim Yager.
Parsippany Hills fought back to make it 13-6 at halftime. Two drives by Parsippany Hills in the second half were stopped by a fumble recovery by Roman Delgado and an interception by Alex Melendez to end the game. Summit JVs are now 1-0.
The Summit JV Football team won its second game in as many outings, blanking Mendhain 28-0 at Metro Homes field. Summit opened the scoring in the first quarter on a pass from Quarterback Pat Huck to Halfback Sal Liberato covering 18 yards. The kick failed and Summit led 6-0. In the second quarter, Huck connected with Halfback Marcel Godino on a 55 yard pass to make it 12-0. Fullback Peter Badgley took it over on a two point Play to extend Summit's lead to 14-0 at halftime.
In the second half Quarterback Chett Joffe led the Hilltoppers to two more scores. Badgley scored on a one yard plunge and Joffe scored on a sweep covering 27 yards. Tim Yager kicked the extra points after both scores to end the scoring at 28-0.
Summit's defense was outstanding with A.J. Jennings and Griffin Cooper recovering fumbles to help in the defensive effort.
The JV's will be-home next Monday at 4 p.m. playing the Dover Tigers.

The JV's posted win number 3 on Monday beating a determined Dover team Summit opened the scoring on a 14 yard pass from Quarterback Pat Huck to Marcel Godino. Tim Yager converted his first of three PAT'S. Shortly before halftime, Huck connected with Yager on a 30 yard pass to make it 14-0.
Summit finished the scoring in the 4th quarter on a two yard plunge by Griffin Cooper. The store was setup by a 28 yard run by Quarterback Chet Joffe and a 13 yard pass from Joffe to Jake Hall.
Four Dover drives were stopped by interceptions by Nolan Prinzen,
Sam Russell, Alex Melendez and Roman Delgado. JV's (now 3-0) travel to Dumont next Monday for their fourth game.

"Summit Sophs," Summit's Sophomore Football team, edged Wayne Valley 13-12 in a hard fought contest at Wayne Valley on Thursday, October 2. The Hilltoppers opened the scoring in the first half on a 17 play 72 yard drive. punched it in by Chet Joffe from the 3 yard line to make it 6-0. The kick after the touchdown was wide. Wayne Valley tied the game in the third period after an interception at midfield was returned to the Summit 7 yard line.
In the 4th quarter Summit drove 58 yards to the Wayne Valley 5 yard line where Quarterback Chet Joffe hit Sal Liberato with a 5 yard TD pass. The big play in the drive was a 19 yard.screen pass from Joffe to Fullback Peter Badgley. This play came on a 4th and 9 at the Wayne Valley 27 yard line. The all important extra point was converted by Tim Yager to make the score 13-6
There was more to come. Wayne Valley put together a drive of its own, scoring in the last minute of the game to make it 13-12. A 2 point attempt failed as the Hilltoppers turned up the heat. Summit's defense, led by Logan Jeffries, Greg Novo and Griffin Cooper, was outstanding throughout the entire game.
The Summit JV's racked up their fourth win in as many tries, blanking Dumont 20-0 on Monday, October 6th. In the first half the Hilltoppers relied on outstanding defense and special teams, led by Logan Jeffries and AJ Jennings. Jeffries had two block punts, a sack and six tackles. Safety Tony Masterfano also had a nice interception to stop a Dumont drive. Summit led at half 7-0 on a 6 yard pass from Quarterback Chett Joffe to Tim Yager. Yager kicked the PAT.
In the second half, Marcel Godino scored on a nifty 8 yard run. The PAT was unsuccessful. Summit put the game away early in the fourth quarter when Safety Griffin Cooper intercepted a pass and returned a 28 yards to pay dirt. Alex Melendez kicked the PAT to finish the scoring at 20-0.
The JV's are home next Monday, October 13 taking on the Weequahic Indians.
