Summit picked up where it had left off at the end of the West Essex game. Summit was in total command of the game through the first three quarters. Summit had allowed Parsippany Hills only 20 points as the game entered the quarter. Summit was ahead by 23 points (43-20) with only 8 minutes to play. That lead was more points than Parsippany Hills had scored in the entire first three quarters. Things were looking pretty secure to the Summit faithful, then the unthinkable almost happened.
After an initial Summit free throw, Par Hills ran off 14 unanswered points and cut the lead to 10 points. A pair of David Newton free throws momentarily restored order but the onslaught continued. Five more points by Par Hills and the lead was only 7 and there were still over 3 minutes to play. Andre Torres scored to put the lead back to 9 points but Par Hills answered with 4 point and the lead was 6 with 3 minutes remaining. Newton score a FG, but par Hills scored 3 points and the lead was down to only 5 points. It was one step forward 2 steps back. Could this be happening? A Summit free throw was offset by Par Hills FG. Now 19 of Summit's 23 point lead had evaporated and there were still 34 second left to play. James Kennedy made a free throw but, again, Par Hills responded with yet another basket, 20 points had been erased. Matt Wholey was fouled and with 4 seconds left made a free throw giving Summit a 4 point lead to save the game. Par Hills scored a field goal at the buzzer, but it was over.
The Summit fans were glad to get the victory, but stunned that a 23 point had almost disappeared. Jordan Healy led the offense with 16 points and the defense with 10 rebounds, Summit needs a victory over Mendham or Dover to qualify for the State Tournament
