Game One: Won. Summit 15 - Montclair 1 Sunday, April 5 - The SLC 8th Grade A Team opened up the 2009 Spring season with a trip down by the tracks to Montclair's Fortunato Field with a decisive 15-1 win. Summit railroaded the Montclair Blues by spreading the ball around, with twelve different Summit players contributing on the score card. G - Scott Caputo used all of his body parts to stop Montclair's scoring efforts deflecting 11 shots. A - Thomas Fowler scooped up 9 ground balls, D - Brendan Huston assisted on 2 goals and M - Jamie White lead the Summit scoring efforts with five total points, 3 goals and 2 assists for the Hilltoppers. Next up for SLC 8th Grade the Chatham Face-Off Classic on Saturday, April 18th at Cougar Field.

The SLC 8th Grade A Team opened up the Chatham Face-Off Classic at Cougar Field with a 7-3 victory against John Jay from Katonah, NY.  M Jamie White lead off the scoring in the classic with a natural hat trick, D Brendan Huston played tough D with a decisive hitting effort. Ground Ball war was led by D Will Shamim and M Mike Badgley with 3 each on the natural turf. G Scott Caputo had five big saves for Summit.

Game Three:  Won. Summit 8 - Darien 2 Saturday, April 18- The SLC 8th Grade A Team’s second match in the classic put them up against Darien, CT.  Again, Summit came away with a solid effort, against a very good goaltender, with a 8-2 win. A Austin Carbone and M Dillon Confalone lead the Summit scoring with 3 points each. A. Carbone with 2 goals and one assist, and Confalone with 2 assists and one goal. A. Carbone was the ground ball hawk winner with 6 GBs for Summit. D Will Shamim answered Dariens frustrations with a solid, clean hit putting the game to a final rest in the end.

Game Four:  Won. Summit 10 - Chatham 2 Saturday, April 18- The SLC 8th Grade A Team’s final match in the classic put them up the host Chatham Cougars.  Chatham’s coach thanked Summit “for puting on a clinic” as they walked away with a decisive 10-2 victory, and undefeated on the day.  M Tyler Carbone lead the Summit scoring with 4 points including 2 goals and 2 assists, M Matt Killian chipped in a natural hat trick. D Will Daney, fresh off the tar-mat, played solid D, Goaltender Scott Caputo cleared the ball well and came up with 9 huge saves. Middies Jamie White and Mike Badgley lead the GB effort with 5 each for Summit. The long awaited game ball goes to Coach Gump. It was a great day of Summit lacrosse.

M Jamie White and M Dillion Confalone lead the Summit scoring with 4 points each. D Will Shamim, D Brendan Huston and D Will Daney played solid defense and G Scott Caputo had nine big saves for Summit. M Matt Killian won the ground ball war with 5 GBs. Won. Summit 12 - Westfield 1 The SLC 8th Grade A Team improved their record to 6-0 with another decisive victory against Wesfield at Tatlock Field. A Matt Maier opend up the Summit scoring with two goals and one assist. Five other Hilltoppers put up three points on the day including: A Thomas Fowler, A Austin Carbone, M Tyler Carbone, M Matt Killian and M Drew Higgins. M Mike Badgley won the ground ball war with 9 GBs. G Scott Caputo added two saves for the Hilltoppers. Next up for Summit: Thunderboldt tournament in West Windsor, NJ on Sunday, May 3rd.

Sunday, May 3 - The SLC 8th Grade A Team improved their record to 7-0 with another decisive victory at the West Windsor Thunderboldt Tournament against John Jay for the second time this season. A Matt Maier lead the Summit scoring effort with 5 total points (2G/3A). M Jamie White and M Mike Badgley won the ground ball war with 6 GBs each. D-Men Brendan Huston, Will Shamim and Will Daney played solid, aggressive D. G Max Graeb, called up to the big leagues, filled in admirably in for Scott Caputo and added one save for the Hilltoppers.

Sunday, May 3 - The SLC 8th Grade A Team improved their record to 8-0 with a solid Win vs Bridgewater at the WW Thunderboldt tournament. Summit found themselves down 0-1 early in the game, but came back with a tenacious offense and spread the scoring around with four players leading the scoring efforts with three points each. A Austin Carbone (2G/1A), M Tyler Carbone (1G/2A), A Thomas Fowler (1G/2A), and M Mike Badgley (1G/2A). Strong Defense effort lead by D Will Shamim with one assist, D Brendan Huston with 4 GBS, and D Will Daney with a hard hitting effort. G Max Graeb came up with 2 saves, in what was his fourth straight game in a row. The ground ball hawk was M Jamie White with 6 GBs on the day.

Sunday, May 3 - The SLC 8th Grade A Team improved their record to 9-0 by putting up a shutout vs. Hopewell Valley with a 12-0 blanking in the 3rd game of the Thunderboldt Tournament. G Scott Caputo was credited with the shutout, fresh out of his confirmation,  joined by A Austin Sayre and D Hayden Desanto. The leading scorer was A Thomas Fowler with 7 points (3G/4A). A Austin Carbone won the ground ball hawk award with 8 GBs. The win placed summit in the Gold Medal Championship Game vs the host West Windsor Lighting.

Sunday, May 3 - The SLC 8th Grade A Team improved their record to 10-0 for the season and 4-0 on the day to take the WW Thunderboldt Tournament Gold medal home. The leading scorer was A Thomas Fowler with six points (1G/6A). The ground ball hawk award went to M Matthew Killian with 6 GBs. The Gold Medals went to: goalies Max Graeb, Scott Caputo; defensmen Heydan Desanto, Will Shamim, Brendan Huston, Will Daney; attack men Thomas Fowler, Austin Carbone, Austin Sayre, Matt Maier, and middies Jamie White, Dillon Confalone, Drew Higgins, Matt Killian, Tyler Carbone, Mike Badgley and Justin Gump for their outstanding team effort and accomplishment.

A Thomas Folwer lead the Summit scoring effort with three goals and one assist . D Will Shamim hardest hit award and M Mike Badgley with Ground Ball Hawk award with 5 GBs. G Scott Caputo came up with 5 huge saves for Summit.

The SLC 8th Grade A Team improved their record to 12-0 with a incredible “Braveheart” victory following a scorelss overtime period against a very good Somerset Hills team. M Jamie White scored four goals for Summit, including three in regulation and one during the Braveheart tiebreaker for the game winner. G Scott Caputo came up with 4 saves, with the biggest in the Bravehart period. D Hayden DeSanto and M Dillon Confalone lead the groud ball effort with 4 GBs each. Huge team win in incredible style. Congrats to Caputo and White. Huge W.

The SLC 8th Grade A Team defeated Ridgewood at home on Mother Day staying undefeated with 13 W's. G Scott Caputo was awarded the game ball from the game officials for his outstandign shot stoping play with 9 saved on the day. A Thomas Folwer lead the Summit scoring effort with 6 points (3G/3A) followed closely by A Austin Carbone with five points (2G/3A). The ground ball hawk went to M Jamie White with 5 GBS. Defensmen Shamim, Huston, Daney and DeSanto played tough D on Ridgewoods hands with great checks all afternoon. Next up: Home vs. Mountain Lakes on Sunday, May 17 at 12:00 - Metro Homes Field.

Sunday, May 17- On a cool, blustery day on the synthetic tundra on a field formerly know as Tatlock, the SLC 8th Grade A Team welcomed perennial state power house Mountain Lakes to Summit and improved their undefeated record to 14-0 with a decisive 10-4 victory. Mr. Shamim called the opening face-off which was controlled by M Jamie White and Summit never looked back. The Summit scoring effort was lead by A Thomas Fowler and A Austin Carbone with eight total points, each with 2 goals and 2 assists. The ground ball hawk award went to M Tyler Carbone with 7 GBs on the afternoon. Defensmen Brendan Huston, Will Shamim, Will Daney and Hayden Desanto played solid D, and G Scott Caputo deflected six Laker shots. Next up: Home vs. West Essex on Thursday, May 21 at 6:45 PM Upper Tatlock Field.

Thursday, May 21- The SLC 8th Grade A Team welcomed Iron Hills foe West Essex to Upper Tatlock on a beautiful evening for lacrosse and improved their undefeated record to 15-0 with a another decisive 10-1 victory. The Summit scoring effort was lead by A Thomas Fowler with 1 goals and 3 assists followed by M Jamie White with 1 goal and 2 assists. The ground ball hawk award went to M Mike Badgley with 6 GBs on the evening. Defensmen Brendan Huston, Will ShamimWill Daney and Hayden Desanto frustrated West Essex, and G Scott Caputo shut them down and deflected 4 shots. Next up: Summit goes on the road to The Hills, Saturday May 30th at 3:00 at Dubois Turf Field.

Saturday, May 30- The SLC 8th Grade A Team traveled to The Hills and improved their unbeaten record to 16-0 with a 15-1 victory. M Dillon Confalone won the Ground Ball Hawk Award with 7 GBs. A Matt Maier and A Thomas Folwer lead the summit scoring with 5 points each. Next up: Saturday June 6th at 12:00 at Upper Tatlock Field vs. Glen Ridge.

Saturday, June 6- The SLC 8th Grade A Team welcomed Glen Ridge to Summit and improved their unbeaten record to 17-0 with a 9-5 victory in what was billed as the “William Wallace” game. M Dillon Confalone and M Jamie White won the Ground Ball War Award with 4 GBs each. M Matthew Killian lead the Summit scoring effort with 4 points. Next up: Sunday, June 7th at 5:45 at Metro Homes Field vs. Somerset Hills with a undefeated title on the line.

Sunday, June 7th- The SLC 8th Grade A Team completed their the 2009 eighth grade season with a perfect record of 18-0 with an exciting 4-3 OT victory vs. their toughest opponent all season...Somerset Hills. A Austin Carbone lead the Summit scoring with 3 points (1Goal/2Assists). He saved his best shot for his last with the game winning goal with 1:19 remaining in overtime off of an unselfish feed from A Thomas Fowler (1Goal/1 Assist) to cap off the undefeated season. G Scott Caputo put on a stellar performance and deflected 10 shots including one in the overtime period. The entire 8th grade team played with pride and determination. The Summit defense dominated: Brendan Huston 3 GBs, Will Shamim strong stick checks, Heydan Desanto picking off passes, Will Daney re-directing. Middies: Jamie White, Drew Higgins, Dillon Confalone, Mike Badgley, Tyler Carbone, Matt Killian and Justin Gump played hard, controlled face-offs, won ground balls moved the ball down field and played both ends all evening. Attackmen: Austin Sayre, Austin Carbone, Thomas Fowler and Matt Maier moved the ball, cut, fed passes and made plays for Summit. M Jamie White, M Matt Killian and D Brendan Huston won the Ground Ball War with 3 GBs each. Congratulations on an exciting finish to a perfect 18-0 season.
