The six graduating seniors who have been with the Brian Erickson program from its beginning took the home court for the last time tonight amongst family and friends and an appreciative public.  Hanover Park waited patiently for the ceremonies to end and then played the single best half against the Hilltoppers that they have faced all season. Executing their spread offense to perfection and getting 8 lay ups, and holding Summit to one shot on offense, HP raced to a 23-7 lead at half. Summit did come out with a mixture of pride and fire in the second half, turning their defensive pressure up a notch, and steals by Emily Cristaldi, Kate Martino and Alex Reid keyed a 16 point third quarter for the Lady Hilltoppers. But taking chances on defense also resulted in HP getting many easy looks so Summit didn’t put much of a dent into the HP lead. Summit was hurt on the boards by the absence of Cassie Hall, who was out sick, and the much taller HP played very tough.  The highlight of the game was seeing Captain Shannon Murphy, still recovering from a torn ACL and blown meniscus, make her first appearance of the season in the second half, executing a perfect pass off a throw in play. 

But for Seniors Claire Cummins, Najla Austin, Jenna Wilson, Shannon Murphy, Alex Reid and Melissa Scott, it was a great evening, and the Summit women’s basketball program is healthy again thanks to these great players dedication and commitment.
