JV Union County Tournament

Qualifying Games
Game One: Summit 1  Westfield 0
Game two: Summit 3  Scotch plains 1
Game three: Summit 2 Cranford 1

Semifinals: Summit 2 Cranford 0
Cranford Semi final saw a very high level of play and was marked by a Paul Coviello goal and great goaltending by Brandon Jackson.

Finals: Summit: 4 Westfield 0
Summit showed a killer instinct.  Frank Lawrence scored 32 seconds into the game and Will Brenn made it 2-0. fifteen seconds later.  Summit never looked back. Connor Jackson and
Will Weber also scored goals. Brenn, Lawrence, Max Munoz, Chris Thompson, and George Campbell pressured the opposing goalies all day.

In the semi final and final the forechecking by all the forwards was most effective.  Defense of Mike Santina, Eric Heinel, Rob Bendock and Charlie Sangree was solid all day, sparking the offense and shutting down the opposition.  The whole team passed well.  A number of the tournament teams had individual stars but none of the other teams matched the teamwork and system play of Summit.  Critical to the success of the team was the goaltending tandem of Coviello and Jackson. Both were stellar in net, making big saves time and time again. They allowe only two goals in the five games. Also Coviello shed his pads for a number of games.  He scored a crucial goal in the semi final, passed well and delivered a number of big hits.

Will Brenn was named tournament MVP!

Coach Matt Ramstedt was somehow able to keep his team focused during a
long day of hockey. The work he put in over season was amply
demonstrated during this tournament.  Great coaching job.

Great  Season all around.
