Summit first season in the newly formed Union County Conference got off to a splendid start when Matt Rea took the opening kickoff and returned it 45 yards to the Hillside 40 yardline. Dwayne Dabney moved the ball to the 27 yardline. On the next play Joe Jaskolski hit Marcel Godino with a 27 yard TD strike. Alex Melendez kicked the first of his six near perfect PAT kicks. With only about 30 seconds off the Clock Summit was on top 7-0. The Summit defense forced a "3 and Out" on Hillside and Summit again had the ball in Hillside territory. Two running plays put the ball on the 39. In a repeat performance, Jaskolski threw a perfect 39 yard strike to Godino for the second score.

Hillside showed that they might be a threat when they took the kickoff and in 6 running play drove to a 1st down at the Summit 10 yardline. Here the defense stiffened and Hillside, faced with 4th an 6, set up for a field goal, but a errant snap turned the ball over to Summit on the Summit 17. Two nice runs by Jaskolski, a Hillside offside penalty and a 17 yard pass to Sal Liberato gave Summit a first down at the Hillside 40. This time Jaskolski connected with Shawn Hillas for the third TD of the 1st Quarter. On the next Hillside possession Summit recovered a fumble on their 15. Jaskolski took it to the 5 yardline and Dwayne Dabney covered the remaining 5 yards to put Summit up 28-0 early in the 2nd Quarter. Hillside again tried to get back into the game by mounting an 11 play drive that got them to a 3rd and goal at the Summit 5. However, a fumble on 4th down ended the threat. With time running out in the half, Summit rolled behind runs by Dabney and Rea, as well as Jaskolski passes to the same pair, had a 1st and goal at the Hillside 1. Sadly, a fumble on the final play of the half ended the drive.

Pat Huck took over the QB position early in the 3rd quarter. Summit's first possession of the 2nd half featured a 16 yard scamper by Huck and 23 yd run by Rea to get to the Hillside 5 yardline. From there, Huck hit Rea for the Summit's fifth score. The final score of the game came on Summit's last possession of the 3rd quarter when Dabney raced 60 yards for the score. The final Summit possession of the game was Quarterbacked by Sophomore Ryan Bringewatt.
