Madison 0 0 7 7 14

The way the game started one could be tempted to think this was going to be easy. Summit took the opening kickoff and easily moved the ball from Summit's 33 to the Madison 18 before turning the ball over on a fumble. Madison was forced to punt and Summit began again on the Hilltopper's 36 yard line. Four plays later Joe Jaskolski connected with Brian Feeney for a 22 yard TD. A crucial play along the way was a 19 yard run by Dwaine Dabney. Alex Melendez kicked the extra point and Summit was underway. On the next kickoff Sam Russell picked up the squib kick before a Madison player could get to the ball and Summit had the ball on Madison's 31. On 4th and 6 Jaskolski again found B. Feeney on a 26 yard pass that ended on the 1. From there Matt Rea scored, Melendez kicked and it was 14-0 in favor of Summit. On Summit's next possession Summit was faced with a 4th and 7. Nolan Prinzen went back to punt, but the snap went to Kevin McNany on the fake. McNany gained 6 yards, but fell 1 yard short and the 1st quarter ended.

Madison's first two possessions of the 2nd quarter ended in punts and late in the quarter Summit started another drive from their 41. A 34 yard pass to Dabney made it 1st and 10 at the Madison 19. A 7 yard pass to Rea helped give Summit a 1st and Goal at the 9. Two carries by Dabney made it 3rd and goal at the 1. Dabney was stopped short of the goal and Rea's 4th down plunge appeared to score, but the referee called it just inches short. So instead of a 21-0 lead Summit went to the locker ahead 14-0. What's worse, Madison picked up a charge of momentum from a great goal line stand.

Madison received the kickoff starting the 2nd half and on the 2nd play from scrimmage ran 53 yards to score and cut the Summit lead in half. However, Summit bounced right back and moved from the Summit 20 to the Madison 11 before Summit had to settle for a 27 yard field goal by Melendez. On the next few possessions neither team could move the ball and exchanged punts. On Madison's 2nd punt B. Feeney broke through and blocked the punt giving Summit the ball at Madison's 27. Unfortunately, on the 2nd play Madison intercepted a Jaskolski pass on their 10, to end the threat. Madison drove well into Summit territory before being forced to punt, but Summit could go nowhere and punted back. Madison took over at their 37 and 7 plays later they scored to pull to within 3 points with 3:52 seconds left in the game. The Summit fans were on edge.

But all was put right on Summit's next possession. On 3rd and 12 from the Summit 44 Rea worked his magic and broke tackle after tackle refusing to go down. He eventually broke out of the pack and out ran the the Madison secondary for a wonderful 56 yard touchdown.

Summit will meet Orange (who defeated Caldwell 10-7) in the 1st weekend on December
