Summit 28 7 13 0 48
North Plainfield 0 0 6 15 21

This had to be the most unusual 1st quarter in the history of Summit football. Summit registered 4 touchdowns before 7 minutes had elapsed. During that time North Plainfield did not get to run a single play from scrimmage. Summit took the opening kickoff and quickly scored when Joe Jaskolski hit Shawn Hillas with a 51 yard TD pass. Summit kicked off with a short kick that North Plainfield wasn't able to handle and Summit took over on Summit 47. Five plays later Dwaine Dabney scored on a 17 yard run. Again North Plainfield failed to handle the short kick and Summit got the ball on North Plainfields 45 yard line. Five play and Marcel Godino scored on a 17 yd pass from Jaskolski. It is hard to believe but on the next kick off North Plainfield again coughed up the ball. This time on the NP 25. On the second play Dabney ran it in for the 4th Summit TD with 5:28 still left in the 1st quarter. Finally, North Plainfield got the ball and mounted a 17 play drive that eventually stalled at the Summit 3. Summit ended the half by going 58 yards in 4 play ending with a 36 yard pass from Jaskolski to Godino. Each of Summit's 5 TDs were followed by good PAT kicks by Alex Melendez.

North Plainfield demonstrated why it was wise to kickoff short because NP's Green took a deep kick to begin the 2nd half and went 95 yards for a TD. Summit answered with a Matt Rea TD and Dabney's 3rd TD of the game. North Plainfield would go on to score twice in the 4th quarter.
