Orange 13 0 0 6 19
Summit is the North Section 2 - Group 2 Champions!! Even After spotting Orange to two TDs in the first 13 minutes of play. Both Orange scores were triggered by fumble turnovers in Summit territory. Summit demonstrated its toughness by taking the kick off following the 2nd Orange TD and powering its way 85 yards on 13 plays. The drive was masterful mix of the running of Dwaine Dabney, Matt Rea and Joe Jaskolski and key receptions by Brian Feeney and Danny Feeney. At 7:43 in the second quarter Jaskolski took it in from the one and Summit was back in the game. Later in the quarter a Summit fumble of an Orange punt gave Orange the ball on Summit's 22 yard line. However, the Summit defense rose to the occasion and stopped the threat. With less than 4 minutes in the half , Summit started the drive that would eventually give them the lead. Even though time was short Summit stayed on the ground. Seven plays later Summit had a first down on the Orange 33. Now the clock was running out so Jaskolski took to the air and Marcel Godino made one of his amazing catches just short of the goal line and bulled his way into the endzone. As he has done all year Alex Melendez nailed the extra point to give Summit a 14-13 lead and the stars were back in alignment .

The Summit fans were now more confident and were looking for a quick TD in the 2nd half. However, Summit was forced to give the ball up on downs. The Summit fan were chagrined when Dabney left the field with a limp. Orange wasn't ready to roll over. They started a drive on their 37 and in 13 play were on the Summit 10. Here again the Summit defense rose up and put a stop to the advance and forced a 35 yard field goal attempt that fell short. Without the services of Dabney, Rea and Jaskolski shouldered the running for the remainder of the game. Summit took over on their 20. Rea and Jaskolski gained a 1st down at the 35 and Jaskolski went wide for 20 yards to the Orange 45. On the next play Rea put on one of his most amazing runs. He broke 3 tackles, cut back and forth 3 times when he appeared to be doomed and went 45 yards for the score that would give Summit a 21-13 lead. There was a collective sigh of relief from the Summit fans.

But Orange wasn't done. Following a fine 4th quarter punt by Nolan Prinzen the Orange receiver was clearly going down on their 30 yardline, but he got away and raced to Summit's 47. This seemed to pump up Orange and they covered the 47 yards in 8 plays. With the score 21-19 Orange went for 2 and a tie, but the pass was broken up, and the tie averted. However, there was still 4:55 to play. Rea carried the ball on 6 consecutive plays and Summit had a 2nd down on the Orange 49. Summit decided to risk a pass and Ryan O'Malley made a great catch for 36 yards and a 1st down at the 13. On the next play Rea showed again why he is so valuable. He literally dragged a couple of Orange defenders the last 5 yards across the goal line to put the game away 28-19.

Notes: Rea was the leading rusher with 123 yards and Jaskolski gained 109 yard on the ground, his biggest running performance of the season. Jaskolski completed 6 0f 10 passes (each to a different receiver) for 127 yards.

A number of season records were broken, I will post them tomorrow.
