Summit finished its regular season without a loss and only one game (Gov. Livingston) did not go to a mercy clock. If this had been a boxing match it would have been stopped after the 1st quarter. Summit had seven possessions in the 1st half and scored on every one. Dwaine Dabney set the tone of the game when he went 66 yards for a TD on the first play of the game. The next possession featured the only drive that took more than 4 plays. Again Dabney scored, this time from the 3 yard line. On the next Pingry punt Dabney returned it 70 yards for his 3rd of four consecutive scores. Toward the end of the 1st quarter Sam Russell intercepted a Pingry pass and returned it 28 yards to the Pingry 20. After an incomplete pass Joe Jaskolski hit Matt Rea for 4 yards and he lateraled to Dabney who covered the final 16 yards. With about a minute to play in the 1st quarter the Summit was ahead 28-0.

In the 2nd quarter a 31 yard pass from Jaskolski to Marcel Godino, a 31 yard run by Rea and a 51 yard run by Peter Badgley led to 3 more scores. Summit's final score came in the 3rd quarter When Ryan Bringewatt ran 23 yards to the Pingry 1 yard line. Going down, Bringewatt fumbled and Tony Masterfano recovered the ball in the end zone.

Each of the seven 1st half TDs were followed by a successful extra point kick by Alex Melendez. Melendez has completely destoyed all Summit records for place kicking. Melendez has 53 PATs (old record held by Gus Nelson is 32) and 56 points (old record 35). A new record for most consecutive PAT kicks made has been established at 53. A truly amazing accomplishment.

Summit will play Ridgefield Park next Saturday at Home in the quarterfinals of the Sectional Tournament. The probable time is 1PM.
