Summit struck for two quick touchdowns in the first 5 minutes and won going away. Ridgefield Park tried an on-side kick to start the game but it was easily handled and Summit had the ball on their 46 yard line. Seven plays later Dwaine Dabney scored from the one yard line, The drive featured a 31 yard run by Dabney and a 23 yard pass from Joe Jaskolski to Brian Feeney, the latter giving Summit a 1st down at the one. On Ridgefield Park's first possession Summit forced a punt. The snap was fumbled and recovered by Summit at the Ridgefield Park 9 yard line. One play later Matt Rea scored and Alex Melendez added his 2nd PAT kick. Ridgefield Park's next possession had 3rd and long from their 28 when they connected with a 63 yard pass that got them to the Summit 9 yard line. The Summit defense put up a valiant defense, forcing a 4th and about 1 1/2 yards before Ridgefield Park finally scored. On the ensuing kick off Matt Rea returned the ball 67 yards to the Ridgefield Park 23 yard line. A pass to Sal Liberato moved the ball to the 9. Dabney took it the rest of way on the next play and Summit was back on track. Sadly, Alex Melendez's brilliant record run of 55 consecutive PAT kicks came to an end. That left Summit's previous record of 35 (set by Gus Nelson in 1970) in the dust. Suffice to say that Melendez immediately started on a new streak of five.

In the 2nd quarter Summit recovered another Ridgefield Park fumble, this time at Ridgefield Park's 46 yard line Rea had a nice run that gave Summit a 1st down on the 23 and Dabney took it in from there to make it 27-6. With less than a minute left in the half Summit got the ball on their 39. Rather than go to the Fieldhouse with a 27-6 lead Summit set out to score a 5th TD. Unfortunately, the effort backfired and Ridgefield Park intercepted a pass in the flat and waltzed into the endzone untouched. The half ended 27-12.

Summit's first possession of the 2nd half. A 26 yard run by Dabney and 10 yards by Jaskolski made it 1st and ten at the Ridgefield Park 30 yard line. Rea took the next snap and broke 3 or 4 tackles to score. Summit got the ball right back when Danny Feeney intercepted a pass and returned it to the Ridgefield Park 14. Three plays later Rea scored to make the score 41 -12. However, Ridgefield Park wasn't about to quit. The kickoff was returned 88 yards to Summit's 5 yard line. Ridgefield Park scored , added a 2-point PAT and the score was 41-20. Rea would score once more and Dabney scored again with about 10 minutes left in the game. That triggered the "Mercy Clock" and the remainder of game went quickly under the guidance of the JVs.

Summit will meet Madison, who defeated Gov. Livingston, next Saturday at home at 1:00 p.m.
