Somerville made a statement at the beginning of the game by pulling off a successful on-side kickoff and then driving 34 yards in 7 plays to take a 7-0 lead. This was the first time this season that Summit had been behind. Ultimately the score looked like it was a blowout, but Somerville showed that they could move the ball on the ground. Somerville gained 192 yards rushing, averaging almost 5 yards per carry.

Summit got things back in order on their 2nd play from scrimmage when Joe Jaskolski connected with Matt Rea for a 45 yard TD pass. As usual, Alex Melendez was a perfect 6 for 6 in extra points. On Summit's next possession Dwaine Dabney ran 54 yards to stake Summit to a 14-7 lead. Early in the 2nd quarter Melendez nailed a 29 yard field goal and Summit was up 17-7.

Summit profited from four big turnovers by Somerville, two fumbles and and two interceptions, all four led to Summit TDs. The first turnover came when Stefano Stadlinger intercepted at the Summit 20 and returned the interception to the Summit 30. Three plays later Dabney scored the second TD mention above. Later in the 2nd quarter Mark DeMetro caused a fumble that was scooped up by Brian Feeney and taken 15 yards for a TD. Just before the end of the first half Brian Feeney intercepted another Somerville pass at mid-field and returned it 49 yards to the Somerville 1 yard line. From there Jaskolski took in for the score. On Somerville's first possession of the 2nd half Mike Watts forced another fumble that was recovered by Nick Orestanio. Three plays later Rea scored on a 22 yard run to put Summit on top 38-7.

Summit's final score came in the first seconds of the 4th quarter when Rea culminated a 55 yard, 11 rushing play, drive. This put the game in "mercy" mode with a running clock. The final 11 minutes allowed the bench to get a lot of playing time.
