This was a quarterfinal match in the Group2 Central Section against Bordentown. The only common foe was Delran, who Summit had struggled to beat in the first round. Bordentown had split their two meetings with Delran so it was expected to be a tough struggle, and the first quarter lived up to that expectation. Summit came out very cold and Bordentown cruised to a 9-4 lead. Even Emily Cristaldi was held scoreless. Things started to gel in the 2nd quarter as Summit turned up the defensive pressure, forcing turnovers, and the ball began to drop in the hoop. In fact, Summit had a 13-0 run to lead 19-12 lead at the half. Summit 's 15 2nd quarter points were all scored by Cristaldi (8 points) and Kate Martino (7 points). Cristaldi's 8 first half points were enough to break the single season scoring record held by Renee Green.
The game continued to go Summit's way in the third quarter as the Summit defense continued to take its toll. Cristaldi poured in 10 points in the final quarter to help Summit win going away. Cristaldi led all scorers with 25, even after a scoreless 1st quarter.
Summit will meet Willingboro in the Sectional semifinal at 6PM Saturday at Summit HS.
