This game was special because everyone there hoped and expected that this would be the game when Emily Cristaldi would become only the 4th player in Summit history to score 1000 career points. Cristaldi didn't take long to score the necessary 13 points. It happened midway through the 2nd quarter, Play was stopped to acknowledge her rare feat and a standing ovation erupted. Cristaldi went on to demonstrate what an accomplished basketball player she is as she scored 30 points and played great defense.
After a close first quarter Cristaldi blew the doors off the gym with 16 second quarter points, Kate Martino added seven 2nd quarter points and the Summit defense held Linden to 4 points. As a result Summit went to the half time with a 19 point advantage. Summit just kept on rolling in the second half and won going away. Those in the stands who had not been at the first Linden game wondered how one of Summit's two loses occurred to this team.
Emily Cristaldi ended the day with 1017 career points. The next milestone is the 1058 career points of Danielle Scott. The records of Renee Green (1220 career points) and the renowned Lindsay Burns (1382 career points) are not completely out of reach.
