Emily Cristaldi put the first points on the board with a three-point shot that excited the Summit fans. However, the excitement was premature as Westfield out scored Summit 15-7 during the rest of the quarter. Six for eight foul shooting in the first period helped Westfield to a 15 - 10 lead after one period. Westfield made the first five points of the 2nd Quarter and led 20 - 10. Kelly Osmulski's three baskets helped Summit remain in the game. Summit's foul shooting for the period was 1 for 5, contrasted with Westfield's 5 of 6 which allowed the Blue Devils to finish the half with a 26 - 19 lead.

Kate Martino sank Summit's only field goal of the 3rd quarter. Westfield wasn't much better, hitting only three baskets and and going 1 for 4 from the foul line. The way the game had been going, Westfield's 12 point lead after three periods appeared insurmountable. However, Cristaldi was fouled on a layup and converted it into a 3-point play. Another basket by Cristaldi, and she was fouled on a subsequent layup. She hit on both foul shots. Martino hit two baskets, then Cristaldi hit two 3-pointers.
