Cranford is probably the best team on our schedule. Summit had a legitimate shot at winning the game. However, some outstanding pitching was undermined by 8 Summit errors. Pat Birosak started and pitched 3 no-hit innings. Even though he didn't allow a hit Cranford did manage two unearned runs. Jay Crisfield took over in the 4th inning and allowed only 1 earned run. Kenny Miller pitched the 6th inning and held Cranford scoreless. If the game only counted earned runs Summit would have been ahead 3-1. But that's not the way it works.

Summit drew first blood in the 2nd inning when Ben Roessle singled and Matt Dewald hit a huge home run over the right field fence. Cranford tied the game in the 3rd when their first three batters hit ground balls that should have been outs but 3 errors resulted scored one run, instead of three outs, and left runners on 1st and 3rd. A sacrifice fly score the second run. In the 5th inning Cranford scored three more runs but Summit errors made only one of them earned.

Summit entered the top of the 7th with bottom of the lineup coming up. Fortunately, Birosak, Chris George and Joe Weil all worked walks to load the bases with no one out and the top of the order coming up. However a double play and a ground out ended the threat with only one runner crossing the plate.
