This result was very hard to take. Pat Birosak was cruising along against a quality team, allowing only 1 earned run on 6 hits through 6 inning. Entering the top of the 7th Summit held a 6-3 lead and was 3 outs away from victory with Birosak having thrown 89 pitches. The offense was pounding the ball and it looked like it was Summit's game. Nick Orestanio was having a great game having hit two singles, back-to-back towering home runs and gaining 5 of Summit's 6 RBIs.

The leadoff hitter for Johnson in the top of the 7th hit a rountine ground ball but a fielding error resulted in a base runner instead of the first out. The next batter hit a 2-2 count double to make the score 6-4 and Birosak was replaced on the mound by Jay Crisfield. A single drove in the 5th run, but two ground outs brought Summit within 1 out of victory. However, another single drove in the 6th run (of which only 2 were earned) to tie the game. Summit failed to score in the 7th.

The top of the 8th started with 2 walks and James Baumeister took over on the mound. The next batter was safe on an infield error. An infield out drove in 1 run. A walk loaded the bases and a fly ball to right, that would have been the 3rd out, allowed a runner to score from 3rd. Two more hits resulted in a total of 5 runs for Johnson and a tough situation for Summit. Baumeister singled, Chris George walked and Joe Weil singled to load the bases and give Summit some hope. Singles by Kenny Miller and Nick Orestanio resulted in 3 runs. Matt Dewald singled to drive Miller and Orestanio and send the game to the ninth inning. Unfortunately, Johnson scored 3 run to take the victory from Summit.
