Kenny Miller pitched a great no hitter inspite of the fact that Mendham scored 2 runs, one of them unearned. In addition, Mendham made a huge mistake in their final inning, but we will get to that later.

Summit jumped on Mendham in the first and scored 2 runs on a single by Matt Rea, a walk to Nick Oristanio and a double by Matt Dewald. Medham scored their first run in the 2nd innning when Miller had a bad control stretch. He hit the lead off hitter and then walked the next three batters. Miller righted the ship with a fielder's choice and two strike outs to limit the damage. Mendham tied the game in the top of the 4th. The lead off hitter was walked, sacrificed to 2nd and scored on an infield error. Summit got the lead back in the bottom of the 4th. Dewald started off the innning with his 2nd straight double and was driven in by Chris George's single.

The 5th and 6th innings were well pitched by both sides as only 7 batters came to the plate for each side. As a result Summit carried 3-2 lead into the 7th inning, and Miller still had a no hitter going. Mendham pinch hit for the #9 batter and promptly he slashed a double to the fence. But wait, there insued a long discussion between the Summit coach and the umpires. The result was that the pinch hitter was at bat illegally because he was never announced as a pinch hitter. He was out when he took his position in the batter's box and his double was nullified. Two 4-3 ground outs ended the game.

Rea and Dewald led the Summit hitter each going 3 for 3 and scring 2 of Summit's 3 runs. Two of Dewald's 3 hits were doubles. Matt Rea made two sensational catches in left-center that robbed Mendham of two extra base hit. The first came in the 5th with a runner in scoring position and the 2nd was in the 6th with one out.
