Doubles: Roessle(1)
|
Summit ended its season at the beautiful Yankee minor league park in Staten Island. It was a very well played pitchers duel through the first 5 1/2 innings. Summit scored first in the 2nd inning. Ben Roessle led off the inning with a double and scored when Matt Dewald singled. Starter Jay Crisfield had retired the first nine Parsippany batters. In the bottom of the 4th the leadoff hitter got their first hit, a single. He stole 2nd, was sacrificed to 3rd and scored on a sacrifice fly.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the 6th. Parsippany started the inning with a pair of singles. They were moved to 2nd and 3rd by a bunt. The next batter was intentionally walked to allow a force play at any base. At this point a very controversial balk was called that allowed the winning run to score. Another disputed call at home plate allowed Parsipanny to score another run. Ultimately two more hits would give Parsippany 5 runs to end the inning up 9-4, and that's how it ended.
It is note worthy that both team played error free ball. For the 2nd game in a row the Summit bats were limited to four hits.
