Rahway started off with a bang before Pat Birosak could settle into his groove. The first batter slashed a double and the 3rd batter drove a ball over the left field fence for a 2 run lead. The 4th batter singled and the next batter was walked. Needless to say the Summit fans were tense. A runner was out stealing and Birosak struck out the 6th batter to end the inning with only 2 runs. Over the next four innings Birosak allowed only one run and one hit.

Summit took over the game in the bottom of the 1st inning. Matt Rea beat out a bunt down the 3rd base line for a hit and Kenny Miller singled. That brought up Nick Oristanio who parked the 2nd pitch beyond the left field fence for his 5th home run of the season and gave Summit a 3-2 lead. It is worth noting that the school record for most home runs in a season is 6, set by Alfie Critelli in 1994.

Ben Roessle continued the inning with a double, Chris Goerge got on via an infield error, Jay Crisfield singled as did Joe Weil. When the dust settled Summit was ahead 6-2. Summit scored four more in the 2nd. Miller was on via an error and Oristanio and Roessle walked to load the bases. Matt Dewald's single drove in Miller and Oristanio. Birosak singled to drive in another run. Birosak would eventually score by stealing 2nd, advancing on a WP and scoring when the pitcher balked. Summit would get 2 more in the 3rd from singles by Weil, Rea and Roessle. But that would be the end of the scoring. Rahway changed pitcher and he shut down the Summit bats over the final 3 innings.
