This was an exciting. well played, baseball game. Pat Birosak pitched a complete game victory and Summit's defense played a mistake free game. The infield was particularly busy as 18 of the 21 outs were recorded by the infield. Roselle Catholic out hit Summit 11-7, but 6 of Summit 7 hits were for extra bases, 3 doubles and 3 home runs.

Summit took an early lead when Kenny Miller slammed a home run as the 2nd batter of the game. Roselle Catholic tied the score in the top of the 4th on a single and a double. Summit came roaring back in the bottom of the inning. After one out, Ben Roessle hammered a shot over the fence. Matt Dewald singled and,after another out, Jay Crisfield slamed a 2 run homer to make it a 4-1 Summit lead.

Roselle Catholic rallied in the top of the 5th to tie, with 3 runs on 3 singles and a home run. Summit had a big chance in the bottom of the 5th. Matt Rea and Miller had back to back doubles to start the inning. Unfortunately, the Roselle Catholic pitcher struck out the next 3 batters. Summit had to settle for one run and a 5-4 lead. However, Roselle C. tied it up again in the top of the 6th on double and a single. It remained tied at 5-5 going in to the bottom of the 7th. Joe Weil led off the inning by getting on base on a error. Rea bunted to move the runner into scoring position. A throwing error allowed Rea to be safe and let Weil go all the way to 3rd, with no outs. Miller lofted a fly to short left, Weil tagged up and started to go home after the catch, but stopped short and started back to 3rd. However, the left fielder threw the ball home and it sailed over the catcher's head. Weil raced home with the winning run.
