Summit played it's final regular season home game against St. Mary of Elizabeth. Sophomore James Baumeister had an outstanding day on the mound as he pitched a 5 inning victory and allowed only 1 hit and struck out 8 along the way. Ben Roessle had a big day at the plate with two singles, a double and 4 RBIs. The defense helped the cause by playing error free ball over the 5 innings.

Summit grabbed a 5-1 lead in the 1st inning with the help of 3 walks and a hit batter. Summit had singles from Roessle, Matt Dewald and Joe Weil. Another run was added in the 2nd inning when Kenny Miller singled, stole second and scored on a Roessle single. Three more came in the 4th off a single by Nick Oristanio, a double by Roessle, and a double by Pat Birosak that drove in 2 runs. and left Birosak on 2nd. Birosak stole 3rd and scored when the pitcher balked.

Coming to the bottom of the 5th Summit was ahead 9-1 and needed 2 more runs to end the game in 5 innings. The weather was beginning to look threatening and might delay the game. Matt Rea began the inning with a single and Miller was hit by a pitch. James Kennedy, batting for Oristanio, drew a walk to load the bases. Roessle hit a ground ball and the infielder threw home to try to force Rea, but he was safe. In the ensuing confusion Miller came home to score and the game was over. Within 2 minutes the first thunder was heard.
