Hillside came in a rush with an aggressive defense and an offense that seemed to connect on every shot. At one point in the 1st quarter Hillside had a 13 point lead. Summit did manage to reduce the lead to 10 points by the end of the quarter, helped by Shawn Hillas' 5 points. Matt Wholley came on strong in the 2nd quarter with 7 of Summit's 11 points and the Hillside shooting eased somewhat. Still the half ended with Summit behind 24-18.

What ever magic Coach Maxwell tried at half time definitely worked. Summit turned up the press, forced some turnovers and started connecting . Three 3s, two by Clayton Johnson and 1 by Cris Cafiero and 3 FGs by Hillas sparked the Hilltoppers to 24 point quarter and turn the game completely around. As a result Summit carried a 5 point lead into the final 8 miinutes. Hillside started to foul in an effort to catch up, but Summit drained foul shot after foul shot. In fact, 14 of Summit's 4th quarter 20 points, came at the foul line as Summit grew their lead to a commanding 15 points.

Summit had 4 players in double digits; Shawn Hillas (17 pts), Clayton Johnson (15 pts), Matt Wholey (10 pts) and Cris Cafiero (10 pts).
