Summit struggled through out the first half and was down 22-21 when they went to the locker room. The struggling continued into the 3rd quarter and Summit fell behind by as much as 7 points. Mid-way through the quarter the score stood at 34-27 in Rahway's favor. Shawn Hillas nailed Summit's first 3 to make the score 34-30 and that seemed to shoot some adreneline into summit because they proceeded to go on a 15-0 run to grab a 43-34 lead with 5 minutes left to play. With less that 1:30 left Summit still held an 8 point lead. In despairation Rahway began to foul. Summit missed the front end of a 1-1 and was fouled and again the front end was missed. This time Rahway drained a trey at the 0:41 mark and the score was 48-43. Again Summit was fouled and we were in the 2 shot bonus. Sadly, we missed both free throws. With only 32 second left Rahway scored and was fouled. They sank the free throw for a 3 point play and the score was 48-46. Rahway fouled again, and believe it or not, Summit missed both free throws again. Luckily, Rahway failed to score and finally David Newton hit a pair of free throws at the 14 second mark to put the game away. Cris Cafiero subsequently drained 2 more as icing on the cake.
Matt Wholey played a great game on both offense and defense, hauling down 15 rebounds and scoring 12 point, for a nice double-double. Hillas led all scorers with 17 points and David Newton also had a very strong game with 13 points
