All winning streaks must end sometime, but it always hurts. Orange avenged last year's loss to Summit in the State finals. Summit has been known as a second half team most of the season. So when the Hilltoppers took a 28-14 lead at the half the Summit faithful hoped that would be true once again. Unfortunately, Orange was the 2nd half team as they dominated play over most of the final two quarters. Orange scored once in the 3rd quarter 64 yard pass play to pull within a TD. They forced Summit to punt and proceeded to drive 83 yards in 12 plays to tie the game at 28-28. Disaster struck on the 2nd play of Summit's next possession. On a plunge into the line the ball popped up and was grabbed by an Orange defenseman. He ran untouched into the end zone. Glimmer of hope occurred when the PAT failed, but Summit was down 34-28. Neither team went anywhere on their next two possession.

Summit started it final possession after Seth Ryan returned a punt to the Summit 46. There were about 2 minutes left on the game clock. Sideline passes to Whitman, Liberato and O'Malley gave Summit a 1st down at the Orange 34. A pass to M. Badgley moved the ball to the 20 and a 1st down. With only 12 seconds left and the ball on the 18, Tyler Carbone connected with Ryan O'Malley for a touchdown to tie the game. Over the season the extra point had almost been automatic, but sadly this time it failed an the game went to Overtime.

Summit lost the toss and had to go first. On the second play of the overtime Carbone was sacked at the 35 putting Summit out of field goal range so Summit was forced to pass on 4th down, it was incomplete. Orange had their turn next and managed a 1st down at the Summit 6. The Hilltopper defense rose to the occasion and stopped Orange at the 3 yard line on 3rd down. With 4th and 3 Orange went for the field goal. It was essentially an extra point try and it was Good. Game Over!
