Finally, Summit was the team that came through in the bottom of the 7th for a victory! That wasn't the only positive thing about this game. Will Brenn, recently brought up from the JV squad, pitched the only complete game victory of the season! He allowed only 6 hits over the 7 innings. For those of us who will be around next season, he is a welcome addition to next year's varsity rotation.

Johnson scored a run in the 2nd and 3rd innings and added 2 more in the 5th. That 4-0 lead looked pretty bad for the Hilltoppers. But Summit rallied for 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Nick Oristanio started it off with a walk, DeWald was safe when the left fielder dropped the ball, James Kennedy singled to drive in one run, Tanner Fulton drew a walk, Nick Abbott was hit by the pitcher and forced in another run. After a strikeout, Carlos Quesada hit a sacrifice fly to drive another run. The 4th run came across the plate on Matt Scheer's double.

The score remained tied until the top of the 7th when Johnson scored a run from a leadoff walk, a 1 out single and a wild pitch. Yet again, Summit was down a run going into their last at bats. Johnson put in a new hard throwing relief pitcher who promptly struck out the first Summit batter on 3 pitches. However, Joe Weil ripped a single that was followed by a Nick Oristanio single. Then Summit got a big break. DeWald hit a ground ball that looked like it would force an out at 2nd base, but the 2nd baseman dropped the ball and the bases were loaded. Kennedy proceeded to line his 4th single of the game to drive in the winning two runs (his 2nd and 3rd RBIs). The Oristanio, scoring from 2nd had a very close call at the plate, but slid in under the throw. Game over!
