For the first time this year Summit got to play a game in real baseball weather, what a pleasure. Plainfield took advantage of two singles, two walks and a wild pitch to score 3 runs in the top of the 1st. However, Summit came right back with 3 in the bottom of the inning. Kyle Fries led off with a single, Matt Scheer and Nick Oristanio were walked before Matt DeWald cracked a two RBI double. Oristanio came home on an infield out by Andrew Perry. Summit took the lead in the bottom of the second when Tanner Fulton led off with a single. was advanced to 3rd on a single by Fries and scored on a wild pitch.

Plainfield got back even with back to back singles and a strikeout that got away from the catcher to load the bases. A walk forced in the run. Summit took a 2 run lead back in the 3rd. Perry doubled to begin the inning and moved to 3rd on an infield out. Perry scored on Andrew Oristanio's ground and Oristanio took second when the fielder tried to get Perry at home and failed. Oristanio then stole 3rd and scored on a scarifice fly by Fulton.

Summit's 6-4 lead didn't last as Plainfield tied it up on two walks, a wild pitch, and a two out single. At this point Travis Barr came on in relief and got the last out. Earlier, Plainfield had changed pitchers so both starters were gone when the 5th inning started. The game turned into a pitcher's duel as each pitcher would give up only one hit over the final 3 innings. As a result, the game was tied entering Summit's final at bat. N Oristanio got things started with a double and moved to 3rd on a wild pitch. Knowing that if Oristanio were to score the game was over, the Plainfield coach gave intentional walks to DeWald and Perry to load the bases. This would allow a force play at home on an infield ground ball. The plan almost worked. Baumeister hit a ground ball to the first baseman who scoped it, but inexplicably threw to 1st base instead of home. It probably didn't make any difference because Oristanio got a good jump and probably would have beaten the throw.

Travis Barr was striong in relief and was credited with the win.
