Summit met Plainfield in the preliminary round of the Union County Tournament and emerged victorious. Summit will meet the 2nd seeded Gov. Livingston in the 1st round on Saturday.
Andrew Oristanio picked up his third win Pitching 5 2/3 innings and allowing only 2 runs on 2 hits. Travis Barr pitched the final 1 1/3 innings in relief.
Summit took the lead with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st and led all the way. Joe Weil led off with a single but was out stealing. Kyle Fries singled and Matt Scheer was safe on an error and A Oristaanio beat out a dropped 3rd strike.
Summit added 4 more in the 3rd. Fries and Matt Dewald had back-to-back doubles to start off the inning. Scheer followed up with a single. A. Oristanio doubled and Tanner Fulton singled. One more run was added in the 4th when Dewald singled, advanced on a wild pitch and eveentually scored on a infield error. Summit's final run came in the 6th. Fries singled, stole 2nd, advanced to 3rd on a long fly out and scored on a sacrifice fly by Scheer.
