Summit's losing streak continued as another close game got away in the final innings. If Summit could just avoid the 6th inning life would be so much better. Roselle Catholic started out strong with two runs in the 1st inning but Summit rallied with a run in both the 1st and 2nd innings. Joe Weil singled in the 1st but was picked off by RC's leftie pitcher. James Kennedy and Nick Oristanio were walked and Matt DeWald singled in the run. Summit scored in the 2nd off walks to Alex Newman and Curtis Slaght followed by a Kennedy single.
Roselle Catholic added an unearned run in the 4th and another run in the 4th when the runner on 3rd scored because of a balk. That gave Roselle Catholic a 4-2 lead. Summit tied the game up in bottom of the fifth. Nick Orestanio hit a one out solo home run. That was followed by a walk to Matt Scheer and singles by Andrew Perry and pinch hitter Kyle Fries.
After 5 inning Slaght's pitch count had reach 96 and Travis Barr took over the pitching duties in the 6th. Barr got an initial strike out, but then loaded the basses with 3 straight walks. The next batter hit a ground ball to 3rd and Scheer threw home to get the force out. That left the bases loaded but now there were two out. Sadly, the next batter singled to score two runners. Summit failed to score in their half of the 6th and Will Brenn took over the pitching duties for the 7th inning. He put down Roselle Catholic 1-2-3 but Summit was unable to score in their 7th.
