After a sluggish start Summit took charge and did almost everything right. The 2nd quarter broke the game open as the Summit defense forced many turnovers that led directly to transition baskets. It was a pleasure to watch and allowed Summit to build a 34-23 lead at at the half. The defensive pressure continued in the 3rd quarter and summit racked up 20 points to Roselle Park's 4. Scoring in the quarter was led by 8 points each from Ba'Shawn Mickens and Terry McKenna. Needless to say the Summit bench played most of the 4th quarter. The highlight of the 4th quarter was when when Tom Cummings drained two consecutive three pointers to the delight of the Summit fans.
Some special credit goes to Curtis Slaght, Colin Demerest, and Terry Mckenna who shared the defensive assignment covering Roselle Park's very tall 1000 point scorer. They were all over him and held him to 2 points in the 2nd half. By the 4th quarter he was physically and emotionally exhausted.
Mickens (19 points), Cris Cafiero (12 points) and Mckenna (12 points) led the offense. However, it should be noted the 9 different player contributed significantly to the Summit scoring. Clayton Johnson had 6 rebounds in addition to his 8 points.
