Friday 4/1 4:00PM Home Cranford Won 13-1 Summit spent the first 11 minutes working the rust out the the offensive machinery and then went on a scoring spree. With 38 seconds left in the 1st quarter Nick Kilkowski broke the scoreless tie. Ten seconds later, after Mike Tsiang had won the faceoff, Mike Ford scored. Summit didn't win the next faceoff, but Jules Godino intercepted a pass and headed for the Cranford goal. A pass was fed right back to him and he fired the ball into the goal. Three goals in about 30 seconds.

This set the stage for much of the next two quarters. Summit would score, Tsiang would win the faceoff and Summit would score again. When the smoke cleared Mike Ford had 5 goals and 2 assists, Sonny Round had 4 goals ans 1 assists to lead the scoring.

The first half looked like this game was going to be another lopsided victory. The defense had held Westfield shotless and the offense had racked up five goals, 3 by Sonny Round and 2 by Nick Kilkowski. However, the second half was quite a different matter. Nothing was clicking and the Westfield defense rose to the ocassion, holding Summit scoreless for the half. Westfield finally scored their lone goal in the 4th quarter.

Saturday 4/9 11:00AM Home Madison Won 7-2 Nick Kilkowski drew first blood but the Summit offense seemed a bit out of kilter. Madison answered with 2 goals to close the half up by 2-1. This was the first time Summit has been behind at the half this season.

Some adjustments were made at the half an Summit got into gear. At 7:42 of the 3rd quarter Kilkowski scored again to tie the game. For the rest of the quarter summit was in scoring mode. Someone would score, Michael Tsiang would win the faceoff and Summit would score again. Tsiang was amazing and Summit repeated this cycle for 5 consecutive goals. During that stretch Nick Kitsos and Mark Ford each scored once and Tim Yager scored twice.

For most of the 4th quarter Summit played a deliberate game, runing out the clock. With 2:21 left Terry McKenna scored Summit's final goal. It completed a great comeback for Summit. Pete Badgley had 3 saves

Thursday 6/2 5:00PM AWAY NJSIAA Group 2 Finals @ Ridge
vs. Chatham
Won 7-6 in 5 overtimes. Wow, if you weren't at this game you missed one of the most memorable moments in all of Summit athletic history. Summit never trailed but also was never ahead by more than two goals. With 5:21 left in the game Chatham tied the score at 6-6. Then, as the tension mounted, both teams missed scoring opportunities as each possession was the potential game winner. But the regulation time expired with no one scoring. So off to sudden death overtime. What followed was the most tension filled 20 minutes ever seen on the lacrosse field. Now possessions were like gold, if they could lead to a goal. In each overtime period both teams had opportunities that just missed or were saved by a goal tender. Twenty minutes of scoreless heroics certainly made a wreck of the Summit fans and must have drained the player's on the field. Finally, late in 5th overtime Sonny Round scored and Summit had prevailed in a game in which every ounce of energy, for both teams, was left on the field.

The game was a standoff for the first 8 minute, then at 3:54 Mike Ford broke the ice with a goal. Michael Tsiang won the ensuing faceoff and following some deft passing, Ford struck again only 7 seconds later. There was a tendency for the fans to relax thinking this was going to be like the previous Chatham game but 30 second into the 2nd quarter Chatham took advantage of a rare defensive lapase and scored. A minute later Austin Carbone scored and the lead was back to two. For much of the remaining time in the half Chatham seemed to have the momentum as they sandwiched two goals around another Ford score. So the half ended 4-3 Summit.

Chatham was strong in the 3rd quarter and scored early to tie the game for the first time. The next 8 minutes were scoreless and it seemed like Summit made a few careless passes, but with 24 seconds in the quarter left Ford notched his 4th goal of the game to put Summit back on top 5-4. Two and a half minutes into the final quarter Chatham scored again to tie the game. At the 7:21 point Terry Mckenna scored but 2 minutes later Chatham tied things up. That would be the last score for nearly 25 minutes, before Round terminated the tension.

Summit is the 1 seed in the TOC and will next see action on June 8th against the winner of Delbarton vs. Glen Ridge at Kean (7:00PM) in the TOC Semifinals.

Wednesday 6/8 7:00PM Away TOC Semifinal
@ Kean vs. Delbarton
Won 10-5 Delbarton was the last team to beat Summit three years ago and was highly motivated to end Summit's winniing streak. Nick Kilkowski got Summit on the board at the 9:26 mark in the 1st quarter. Delbarton gave notice that this game was going to be tough when they quickly answered Summit's score. With less than a minutes left, Austin Carbone put Summit back on top. Then, literally at the horn, Ryan Bringewatt scored to end the quarter with Summit ahead 3-1.

The 2nd quarter began with Delbarton scoring early. Summit answered with goals by Sonny Round and two more by Kilkowski. With Summit ahead 6-2 and having possession at the 2:30 mark, Everyone was looking to run out the half and possibly score again. However, a missed pass turned the ball over and Delbarton managed two quick scores that close the gap to 6-4 and increase the tension.

The only score in the 3rd quarter by Terry McKenna, so the final quarter began with Summit holding a 7-4 lead. Certainly not a comfortable lead. Round scored at 10:40 , but that was answered a minute later. Now it was 8-5. At 7:48 McKenna scored again and the Summit fans began to relax a bit. Summit went into kill the clock mode. Timmy Yager saw an opportunity and scored with 1:18 left to throw salt in Delbarton's wound.

Summit will meet Bridgewater-Raritan on Saturday (Rutgers 3:00PM) for the State Championship.

Saturday 6/11 3:00PM Away TOC Finals vs.Bridgewater- Raritan Lost 6-5 It was a very hard fought battle but, sadly, Summit's reign as State Champions came to an end. Less than two minutes into the game Terry Mckenna launched the 1st of his three goals. However, a minute and a half later Bridgewater-Raritan scored to tie the game. McKenna , who had a great game, scored again at 7:07 to restore order. With only 42 seconds left in the quarter B-R again knotted the game.

The 2nd quarter began badly as B-R scored twice in the first 2 1/2 minutes. This put summit down 4-2 and the Hilltoppers trailed for the first time in this State Tournament. Sonny Round pulled Sumit to within one goal at the 6:44 mark. The remainder of the half was scoreless and Summit went to the break down 4-3, an unfamiliar situation for Summit.

Early in the 3rd quarter Nick Kilkowski scored the only goal of the quarter so both teams began the final 12 minutes tied 4-4. B-R put Summit on its heals with a score at 8:49 and then stuck a dagger in with another goal with only 3:15 left in the game. Getting two goals back in the time remaining was a tall order, particularly in such a low scoring game. With a minute left McKenna scored to reduce the defecit to one. Summit got a couple of chances in the final minute but time ran out on a wonderful season.

The winning streak is over, next April it will time to start a new streak.
