This was the 3rd meeting with Scotch Plains, who had won the previous meetings. This time there was extra pressure because the winner would advance to the Union County quarterfinals. Summit came out hot with 19 points and took a 6 point lead. Scotch Plains took advantage of its strength in the paint and Summit's inability to convert layups or make free throws to narrow Summit's lead to 4 points. The difference in the 3rd quarter was Scotch Plains ability to get 2nd and 3rd chances and eventually draw fouls. They went 6 of 8 from the foul line while Summit went to the line once and made 1 of 2. As a result Scotch Plains went up by 3 points entering the 4th quarter.
The final quarter got off to a good start with Kate Martino nailing two field goals and free throw to get Summit back on top 48-46. Unfortunately, Scotch Plains continued to draw fouls, hitting on 5 in a row before they added a FG to re-take a 53-48 lead with 3:50 on the clock. With 52 seconds left, a field goal by Kelly Osmulski got it back to a one possession game 58-55. Three more free throws by Scotch Plains put the game out of reach.
All of Summit's scoring was confined to the big three; Martino (21 points), Nicole Johnson (19 points)and Osmulski (17 points).
