Summit nipped Union in a surprising come from behind victory. Summit's all Junior starting lineup suffered a significant height disadvantage that was evident in the first quarter as Union rolled to a 16-8 lead. Summit, led by Kelly Osmulski's 7 points, managed to shave 1 point off the deficit at the half. Shortly before the end of the first half Summit's fans got a scare when Kate Martino was hit in the eye and had to got to the locker room for help. Fortunately, she returned to action in the 3rd quarter. Summit still trailed by 5 as they entered the 4th quarter. Summit got field goals by Olivia Galuppo, Osmulski and kate Martino, to start the quarter, gaving summit a surprising 1 point lead at 36-35. Union came right back with two FGs and Aly Hosley answered with 2 points and Nicole Johnson drained a trey to retake a 41-40 lead. Four points from Union gave them a 3 point lead with only 1:08 left. On the next possession Osmulski cut the lead to 2. Amanda Murphy was fouled and got a 1 and 1. She made the front end to get to within 1 point. Good defense got the ball back for Summit. The shot didn't go in and everyone scrambled for the ball. Osmulski came up with the ball an threw it up with 2.8 seconds left. It rolled in and summit had pulled off the upset. It should be noted that Union gave Summit a big helping hand when they missed all 9 of their 4th quarter free throws.
