Summit faced Bernards in the 2nd round of the Chatham Invitational and their bats really came alive. Summit bombarded the Bernards pitchers with 16 hits and 8 runs. Andrew Oristanio had a huge day with a single, a triple and a grand slam home run the 4th inning. Sean Guida went 3 for 4 plus a walk. Tanner Fulton and Freshman Cam Fuoti both were 2 for 4.
Mike Nitzberg, who had pitched one inning in the 1PM game against Chatham, pitched 6 good innings against Bernards. He gave up only 3 runs on 6 hits. Freshman Eric Kaufman, in a good sign for the future, took over in the pitching duties in 7th. He gave up a pair of singles to start the the final innning but settled down and got the next batter to hit into a classic 5-4-3 double play. He then struck out the final batter.
Summit finished the day with 4-3 record.
