Summit openned its season at Dayton and the weather probably set a record. It had to be the best in decades. James Baumiester took the mound and delivered five very good innings. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and struck out 8. After throwing 87 picthes the mound was turned over to the bull pen. Unfortunately, the relievers weren't up to the task as the Dayton Bulldogs racked up 8 runs. Thereby ending the game after 6 innings.

Summit's only run came in the 3rd inning. Sean Guida singled with one out and went to second when Kyle Fries drew a base on balls. Justin Vitti hit a shot to the 3rd basemen who tried for a 5-6-3 double play but didn't get Vitti at 1st. Meanwhile Guida saw an opening and scored from 2nd base.

Summit's bats were largely quiet, but Seth Ryan (batting leadoff) went 2 for 3.
