James Baumeister took the mound in Summit's first game in the State Tournament and threw a masterful 6 hit ,complete game, shutout. In addition, Summit played error free defense. Summit will meet 4th seeded Raritan on Friday at Raritan in the Sectional Quarter finals.

Summit scored their first run in the 3rd inning when Seth Ryan was safe on an infield error with two outs. Ryan stole 2nd and scored on a Mike Nitzberg single. Summit added and insurance run in the 6th. With one out Justin Vitti was hit by the pitcher for the 2nd time in the game. Iony Bueno came in as a pitch runner and advanced to 3rd base on a single by Tanner Fulton. A balk by the Holmdel pitcher allowed Bueno to cross the plate.

Holmdel started their last at bat with a single. The next batter hit into a fielders choice leaving a runner on first with one out. The next batter singled and stole 2nd to put the tieing runs on 2nd and 3rd with only one out. With Baumeister's pitch count at 100 the tension was immense. Baumeister rose to the occasion, striking out the next batter and getting the top of the order to fly out to right field.
