James Baumeister walked the first two batters he faced and they eventually scored as two unearned runs. But from that point on he shutout North Plainfield allowing only 2 hits and striking out seven.
Summit responded in the bottom of the 1st with back to back doubles by Mike Nitzberg and Sean Guida, Guida driving in Nitzberg. Nitzberg eventually scored when John Floegel was walked. Summit went ahead in the third when the North Plainfield starter couldn't find home plate and 5 players were walked. Those two runs were all Baumeister needed as he handcuffed North Plainfield over the final 6 innings.
