Summit battered New Providence with 17 hits and 22 runs in the mercy shortened game. Amazingly, it was the second 17 hit game in a row for the Hilltoppers. Now that has to be a record!
In the top of the 2nd inning summit racked up 7 runs On singles by Seth Ryan, Mike Nitzberg, Kyle Fries ( actually 2 singles in one inning),and James Baumeister as well as a double by Nick Abbott. The Hilltoppers added 4 more runs in the 3rd when Mike Berardi singled, Abbott was hit by the pitcher, Ryan got on via an error, as did Nitzberg and Guida singled. That put Summit on top 11-0.
New Providence got on thr board with 4 runs off 3 hits, one error and a couple of walks to cut the lead to 7 runs. In the top of the 5th inning Summit unloaded for 11 runs. In the clubbing, Nitzberg had a single and a triple, Guida, Fries, John Floegel, Baumeister singled, Justin Vitti singled, and Oristanio tripled. Add in a walk, a hit batter and two NP error and Summit was on top 22-4. In the bottom of the 5th New Providence managed to score a couple of runs but the game was out of reach.
