Summit travelled to Raritan for a quarter final Sectional game. It was an outstanding baseball game through 5 1/2 innings. Andrew Oristanio was the starting pitcher for Summit and had scattered 4 hits over the first five innings. Both teams had player error free ball. In bottom of the 6th things inexplicably came apart. The first two Raritan batters where hit on the first pitch and the next two were walked. Mike Nitzberg came on in relief with the bases loaded and one run already scored. Before the dust cleared 7 runs crossed the plate leaving Summit down 9-0.
Summit gave it their best in the top of the 7th but could manage only 2 runs. Justin Vitti led off with a single and John Floegel got on via an error. After one out, Nick Abbott hit a double down the left field foul line to drive in one run. Seth Ryan singled to drive in the second run. A pop-up and a fly ball to left ended the game.
