Doubles: Nitzberg(1),Guida(1)
|
Summit started well, Back to back doubles by Mike Nitzberg and Sean Guida. that score one run. It could nave been more but for a mistake on the base paths. Summit started the 2nd with singles Kyle Fries and John Floegel. A sacrifice fly byDavid Berardi scored Kyle Fries to give Summit a 2-0 lead. However, misfortune struck in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Union Catholic took advantage of a hit batter and 2 infield errors to score 3 unearned runs with but a single hit. That turned out to be enough to win the ballgame
Union Catholic scored 2 earned runs in the 4th and another run off reliever Will Brenn in the 6th. Sadly, Summit had 2 runner's in scoring position with no one out in both the 5th and 6th inning, but failed to get them home.
Andrew Oristanio allowed only 5 hits and 2 earned runs over the 5 innings he pitched.
