Ferris had the better of the play for most of the first half, scoring in the 11th minute and again in the 24th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Summit fought back furiously from the start of the second half and broke through 9 minutes in when Matt Scheer headed in a corner kick by Peter Laughlin. Both teams had chances is the first sudden death overtime, but the game continued into a second overtime. That's when sophomore James Holzer, called up from JV and getting his first varsity playing time, slammed home the winning goal off a mad scramble in front to send the home crowd home happy.  (reported by James Abbott

Tied 4-4 Summit came back from deficits 3 times in the game to secure a tie against Cranford in front of a large, boisterous home crowd under the lights at the high school.  Cranford scored to take the early lead in the 8th minute of the game, but 7 minutes later Summit's Manny Navas broke in behind the Cranford defense and evened the score.  Only 23 seconds later, Cranford scored again to make it 2-1 and silence the Summit celebration.  In the 28th minute, Summit's Nick Abbott lofted a shot over the onrushing Cranford keeper and into the goal to make it 2-2.  But in the 33rd minute Cranford's goal gave them a 3-2 lead at the half.  Another score by Cranford 12 minutes into the second half for a two goal lead did not deter the Hilltoppers.  Only 18 seconds later, senior co-captain Peter Loughlin cut the deficit by scoring off a pretty pass from Andre Zeledon.  Two minutes later, Summit freshman Eric Reyes, just called up from the JV and getting his first varsity action, broke behind the goalie and completed the scoring.  Both sides had chances in the remainder of the third period and two 10-minute overtimes, but the game ended in a 4-4 tie. (reported by James Abbott)

Friday 11/4 7:00PM Away NJSIAA Group 2 quarterfinal vs. Gov. Livingston Lost 3-0 Top seed Governor Livingston (17-1-1) came out strong, scoring off a scramble in front in the 2nd minute and again on a breakaway in the 14th minute.  It looked like the tide had turned in the 39th minute when Manny Naves slammed home the rebound of an outstanding save on Ashley Healy's shot, but the goal was disallowed and the play ruled offsides. Summit pressed the action in the 2nd half but couldn't finish a number of scoring opportunities. In the 24th minute of the 2nd half, GL scored again to put the game on ice. In the end, all Summit's seniors played, giving us one last chance to cheer them after years of soccer memories- so we salute co-captains Peter Laughlin, Matt Miller and Josh Rosen and their senior teammates Manny Naves, Matt Scheer, JP Lucaci, Andrew Gilbert. Alex Vega, Will Baker, Stuart Railey and Charlie Zazzera.
